I've been a Beaver now for three weeks. I have the uniform and they've been letting me try archery. It's fun. I can't wait till I make my promise, so I can get a necktie and woggle like my best friend Fraser.

Yesterday Thomas decided I was old enough to be added to the chef chore rota at our house. After all I am 6 now! So I got to make dinner for the first time for the whole family. I made stuffed peppers with Swedish cheese and rice. It was nice. Mummy and Thomas loved it. The rest of us thought it'd have been a bit nicer with less pepper and more mince though!

Mummy and Daddy have bought us three and Charlotte fleece pyjama suits for the winter. I love mine so much there is nothing else I want to wear at night. I really want to buy one for them and for Marcel as I think everyone should have one. They are so cosy!

I really like face painting. I'm so glad my face skin isn't sensitive like when I was little any more. Up till I was 4 I couldn't have my face painted because I kept getting sore spots. Now I am cured I am making up for lost time!
Mum says Charlotte has never had her face painted - she always refused when she was wee - how crazy is that!?

Marcel and Mum tried to wind me up while we had dinner today. They tried to convince me that you don't say "Harden me!" but "Pardon me!", as if that made any sense whatsoever.

Fortunately Thomas was there to support me, or I just might have believed them.

Today we went for a walk at Whitelee Wind farm. The windmills were very big and whooshy. They make a funny noise when you stand under them and you feel like they might chop your head off. I wanted to climb up inside one. I think they look a bit like tiny planes with big propellers stuck on the top of really big sticks. There were millions of them as far as you could see. I ran from one to the next and just had the best time. I hope we can go back soon.

Mummy and Thomas bought me this lovely new jacket on Saturday because it had been reduced to £5 to clear. I think it is very beautiful. I feel like Ben 10 in my new jacket because it is the right colour of green. I bet everyone I know is going to jealous when they see it.

Today the council closed my school. Mummy says school has never been closed by snow since Marcel started school in 2002 so it must be cold. Mummy and Lots took Anna and I for a ride on our sledges. I even tried sledge surfing standing up - it was great fun. Afterwards we picked up Amaia and went by sledge to Granny and Pumpa's house where we had warm juice and played on Pumpa's organ. It was so much fun I didn't even miss school.

I woke up really early because I knew it was my birthday. However, Thomas saw me and sent me back up to bed! :-(
Fifteen minutes later he told me to come downstairs, where everybody had gathered around the dining table and were singing "Happy Birthday" to me. I got a lot of presents!

After school, Matthew, Ross B and Scott came home with me.

Thomas had baked a kagemand and a lagkage – we liked the sweets on the kagemand best, however!

Afterwards Granny and Pumpa came round with their present, and I went with Marcel and Charlotte to Papa's for dinner.

I got my new glasses today. It's just amazing to see what you can see with glasses on. I could see the sky and all round me. I could see all sorts of beautiful things. And they are so cool with Mr Tickle on the side. I tried to show Anna all the lovely Little Miss glasses in the shop too so she'd want a pair too. Mummy said not to because she might not need some. I think everyone should wear glasses though if you can see this much better with them.

Mummy and Thomas have taken the stabilisers off my bike. I told them they should wait three weeks till I'm five but they are insisting now I'm a schoolboy I should try. I can ride it ok for a few seconds but whenever it feels too fast I jump off the back of my saddle to try to save myself. Unfortunately they keep making me get back on. I get the feeling they aren't going to give up hassling me till I get the hang of this :-(

Today was my first real day at school. I got up early, had breakfast and put on my new uniform. Thomas made me a very special lunch with sandwiches, a tomato, a pepperami sausage, a baby bell cheese, cakes, crisps, a drinking yogurt and a napkin. Marcel, my sisters, Thomas and Mum all took me to school. I went in as soon as my teacher shouted on me because I was very excited. When I got back out at 3pm I told mum all about the lovely time I'd had. Marcel says I only have to go in for another 13 years before I am done with school!

Adults aren't very good at organising things.

For instance, Anna keeps asking me questions about Papa, but Papa never gets round to inviting her.

So the other day, when I heard Papa tooting his horn, I took Anna by the arm and said: "It's about time you and Papa met each other." Papa didn't look very happy to meet her, but I'm sure he'll learn to love her.

Another example: I've been saying for a long time that I would like to sleep in Granny and Pumpa's house, but nothing ever seemed to happen.

So yesterday I just picked up the phone, got Mum to dial their number, and I told them that it was about time they invited me round, which they of course did.

I like sorting things out. Perhaps I should invite Papa round for Christmas?

Mummy took me to the hospital for my 6 monthly spot check-up today. My usual doctor, Dr Mealyea, was on holiday so I saw Dr Gulati instead and a visiting doctor from Ethiopia. Mummy was pleased to see someone new because she thinks it is always good for someone new to have a look at my sore face. These new doctors prescribed new cream for me so we'll need to wait and see how that goes. The cream is only licensed for kids over 12 so I have to use very little of it.
While they were discussing my face spots the doctor noticed I had also been treated with antihistamines for my mild allergies. The doctor asked what I was allergic to and mummy said she didn't know so he arranged an allergy test on the spot for milk, egg and grass as all of these things have given me rashes this summer. A nice nurse put bubbles all up my arm, pricked them and then wrote on my arm. All my allergy tests came back negative so I guess I'm just very sensitive.
I hope I am starting to grow out of these problems at last.

On Saturday Marcel and his friend Matthew played with us at water bombs. Gordy had never had a go of water bombs before. I think he quite enjoyed soaking both the big boys. We are very pleased that Granny bought us 250 of them! Hopefully we'll get to play with them a lot this year.

Yesterday was just brilliant. I got to go on a big wheel and a carousel and I got to play with spiders and lizards and snakes. We had a picnic too and I saw lots of roller coasters that I really fancied going on too but mummy said doing everything would just cost too much. I can't wait till we go back!

Today we got out my paddling pool for the first time this year. What fun I had jumping in and out the water first with Gordy and Anna all afternoon and then later in the evening with Emma. It's great summer is finally here and I'm getting to play in the garden all the time. It's just the best.
Mummy says if the weather stays nice she'll even take me to Culzean on Sunday with Gordy :-)

Mummy let me borrow her camera today and I took quite a few photos of her and my sisters. (My brother was at school but Lots was off because her school was being used for voting). I even took a nice photo of Thomas's lettuce. I enjoyed it so much mummy said I could get a camera of my own. I can't wait. Last week Thomas decided to start giving Amaia food because she was eating mummy's milk all the time. She had rice every day at first but after a few days she wanted to try vegetables. I asked mummy if I could feed her and she let me. Amaia liked me giving her food. She was very happy with her vegetables. Afterwards Anna tried to feed her too but she pushed the spoon in too far and that made Amaia cry so I took over again.

Last week at nursery my homework was to make myself an Easter hat. Mum and Charlotte helped me make this lovely red hat with rabbits, lambs, chicks, eggs and daffodils on it. I was very proud to wear it to school and my teacher was very pleased with me. As a prize for doing well, she gave me a pretty green egg with a little fluffy yellow chick inside.

Last week mummy's car was broken and Thomas was working so mummy took us five out for a walk in the snow to take some photos. Mummy always takes the photos so she's never in them. I asked if she wanted me to take a photo of her with Annabits and Teenytroll in the snow. She looked a bit scared to give me her nice camera in the snow but it was safe round my neck and I think I took a nice photo of them. I might want a camera like mummy when I am bigger.

My sore face

I think it has to do with the nasty cold weather but my face and body are awfully itchy and sore at the moment and that is making me really miserable. Mummy spends all her time putting different creams on me. It takes so long and annoys me. Why can't I just have skin like my brother and sisters? Mummy says I will grow out of the eczema one day but I can't remember a time when it wasn't sore - well except when we were in the sun in Italy...

I was in the bath tonight with mummy playing with my raptor and my allosaurus toys. I just said to her - I think it is time I saw a real allosaurus. I want to see what colour it is. Can we go and see a real allosaurus? She said they were all dead! Now, I completely understand why they'd all have died off in Scotland with that horrible cold and rain but I don't see why she won't take me to Italy, where it is nice and sunny to see some real ones.

I was in the bath last night with mum and I was thinking about the baby she is having. So I asked her: What kind of baby do you think we'll get this time mum? Do you think we'll get one with pink skin like me, or a browner, more sun-tanned one, or even one of those ones with black sun-tanned skin? I told her it might be nice to get a brown one this time, because then it wouldn't need to go to Italy to get a suntan like me but mummy said we were going to get another pink one. I wonder why we always get pink ones?

Today Lots helped me to make dinosaur biscuits using Thomas's Danish cookie recipe. After they cooled down we got to draw on them using icing pens. That was great fun and so yummy!

Mummy and Thomas are trying to teach Anna to poo in the toilet. After our bath Anna pooed in the toilet like usual. She went through to the dining room and then shouted she needed to poo again so Thomas put her back on the toilet. She pooed a second time in the toilet. Mummy said she was very proud of her because she has pooed in the toilet all week now.
Then Thomas put on my pyjamas. He asked if I had farted. That's a bit funny because I hadn't farted. I asked if Thomas had farted but he said no too. So what was the smell? We didn't know. Thomas was about to take me to brush my teeth when he noticed there was a tiny poo stuck to my pyjama sleeve. I suppose Anna must have pooed a third time after she pooed in the toilet the first time, before she pooed in the toilet the second time when my pyjamas were lying on the dining room floor after our bath! I'm not sure Mummy should be quite so proud of her after all.

Tuesday was a very exciting day. I got a cake and lots of presents and at nursery I had to wear the birthday hat with candles on. When Thomas gave me the cake he had baked, everyone sang me a nice song. It is nice being 4.

At weekend they took me to the beach to celebrate my birthday because they knew I was going to go to nursery on my birthday. Everyone seemed to think it was a bit cold for the beach but I had a great time!

Mum and Thomas took us all to Italy for two weeks.

I liked that a lot.

I shouted 'Hi' to everybody, until I learned to shout 'Ciao' instead. People liked that a lot.

They shouted 'Ciao bello' and 'Ciao Leone' to me. Instead of 'Hi Five' they said 'Cinque'.

I also liked the heat and the sun a lot. And the ice cream.

But the best thing was that my spots disappeared.

As soon as we came back to Scotland, my spots came back, too. :-(

I want to move to Italy, because living in Scotland gives you spots!

Today we went to one of my favourite parks: Calderglen in East Kilbride. I like the big slides and the sandpit and I like the little zoo. I saw 2 baby meerkats cuddling their mummy and daddy and mum said it was a shame she didn't have the camera with her and I saw some guineapigs that looked delicious. I told Thomas it would be nice to try barbecued guineapig and for some reason all the ladies that were looking at the guineapigs at the same time as us started to laugh a lot. Weird!

Today Mummy was working on her computer and Thomas was upstairs working too. Bits and I had a good idea for a game so we went through to the downstairs bathroom together. I got Bits to give me a toilet roll and I took the paper off it while she collected 3 other empty toilet roll holders from the shelf. I put one down the toilet, then some paper, then a second tube and some more toilet roll and finally the third tube and the rest of the paper. I tried the flusher and it didn't work. Wow, we'd managed what we set out to do, we'd actually managed to block the toilet.
We ran through to mum and said 'Come and see! Come and see! It works!' Mum followed us through and we proudly showed her what we'd done. But mummy didn't look pleased, mummy looked quite angry... So angry in fact that I stopped smiling and walked through to the porch and put myself in time-out. I heard mummy struggling to fish out all the paper using an old chop stick and filling nearly a whole ASDA bag. Mummy didn't stop shouting all the time she was fishing. I went through and took it to the bin for her and said sorry and tried to explain that we were just trying to see if we could stop the flusher working.
I don't think Bits and I should do that again :-(

Thomas can be quite strange at times. For the last week he's been taking out little packets he bought at B&Q that are full of seeds to plant. For some reason Thomas thinks the seeds are frogs. He tells me to dig holes in the ground and put in frogs, he tells me to fill trays with soil and bury the frogs. I know they aren't frogs but it seems to keep Thomas happy if I play along and call them frogs so he understands... whatever!

Mummy and Thomas are moving their bedroom into our old dining room. Granny and Pumpa came to decorate. When Mummy took off the skirting she got a big shock when a mouse came out from a hole under the floor. If we are going to sleep here, she said, we need to get some mouse killer first. We went to B&Q and we went to a bit I've never seen before - they had mouse killer and rat killer and slug killer and spider and wasp killer. There were lots of killer bottles. I noticed though that there was no Blue monkey killer. I shouted to mummy - Mummy why don't they sell Blue monkey kille? All the ladies and men in the shop started to laugh and speak to mum saying I was a very nice boy. I'm not sure why they found that so funny because there really wasn't any Blue monkey killer.

I'm not sure I really understand adults. Last week Thomas told me to be careful of an old, green potato because it was poisonous. Now he tells me he's all excited because he's going to poison mummy on Saturday somewhere in Glasgow. I woke up early this morning to find it had SNOWED! Mum didn't let me go out till about 9am. It was torture. And once we got out it started snowing so heavily we had to come back in for 20 minutes. Once we got out I helped mum build this snowman and I got him a carrot out the fridge for his nose. Some cars were blocking the road so we couldn't go to nursery. When Charlotte came home we made two more snowmen but mum made us come in when it got dark. It was very cold but great fun. Even Bits came out and watched.

Today Gordy and I went to Granny's house. We decided it would be fun to play hide and seek. We both ran upstairs and into the back bedroom. I climbed under the duvet on the big bed, Gordy then climbed under the duvet beside me. We'd found a great hiding place and hiding together was fun. I waited for ages for Gordy to find me and he lay quietly beside me waiting for me to find him. What a fun game!

I have been off nursery for a whole week. I was hot and vomiting all last weekend. Mum had to get up and look after me during the night on both Friday and Saturday because I was so hot. She thought I had a vomiting bug but when we went to see the doctor on Monday, it turned out both Bits and I needed antibiotics. She had a chest infection and I had a throat infection... or was it the other way round? On Monday night mum had to stay up again because Bits was too hot. I slept for a few days and even yesterday I was still getting up very late - nearly 11am. Today I went back to nursery because I was much better.
Yesterday Gordy came to see me. I hadn't seen him for 2 weeks and I wondered why. He looked funny when he came over... all crusty and spotty. It turns out he's been off nursery too with chicken pox. I'll be ok because I had that last year but Anna might still get it off him because she was playing with him 2 days before he got his spots.

Brita and Peter bought us all lots of presents from Denmark. They were all lovely but my very favourite present when I opened them was this beautiful silver coffee pot. I was so happy when I got it that I ran around the living room singing - "Now I can look like a king!"

I got a nice red piano off Santa for Xmas. Mum bought one the same for Gordy. I wonder how she knew to get exactly the same thing...? When I turned mine on the lights flashed but there was no noise. Gordy's worked and it was great fun. Mum said she'd take mine back to the Early Learning Centre and swap it for one that worked. I am beginning to think there is something fishy in this Santa story if the ELC swaps his broken toys...
We went there on Saturday but they had no red pianos left. Mum was about to give up when they noticed they had grand pianos at £5 more so mum paid the difference and I now have a beautiful piano that works, even if I am a bit dubious about the guy in the red coat that brings toys that don't work...

On Friday Bits was one. I helped Thomas make cake and then I helped Bits eat the cake. I think she really enjoyed it. She wasn't sure how to blow out her candle because she's never had a birthday before so I showed her how to.

I just found the tiniest bottle of red paint. It was on the window ledge in mum's room. I opened it and painted the window red, then I painted my chin red and finally my arm. When mummy came in she shouted Léon, what's that smell? She didn't sound very pleased so I closed the curtains and pulled down my sleeves. Strangely though, she still seemed to realize I'd been painting. She threw open the curtains and shouted: What did you do with my nail varnish? Hmm I wonder what nail varnish is, at least she didn't complain about me painting, huh?...

Under my bed there is sometimes wolves. The wolves are blue. Maybe there are ghosts under there too and sometimes there are monsters. I don't like to come out of my room till someone comes to get me in case all those scary things under my bed frighten me.
Thomas made me an advent calendar with presents in a drawer downstairs. Yesterday and Monday I waited till Charlotte gave me my presents but today I decided that even though there were maybe vampires under my bed with the wolves and the monsters and the ghosts and maybe they were bad ones, I would go downstairs and find my present myself.

Today I was opening and closing the oven and touching the gas burners and generally trying to get everything ready to make a pizza. Then mum came in to the kitchen and said the most hurtful thing she has ever said to me. I was so sad I ran to thte living room, buried my head in the carpet and cried and cried. She came through and asked what was wrong with me and I told her through tears and sobs - You just said Move out of my way Léon, you are NOT in charge of the cooker! Can you imagine?

Yesterday I was telling mummy how much I am looking forward to going to Gordy's Halloween party. I knew I was going as a ghost, and Lalotte was going as a devil so I asked her what she and Thomas were going as. She laughed and told me not to be silly, that only the kids were dressing up. I heard her telling auntie Amanda, then she came and told me since Amanda had a witch costume, she might have to dress up after all! I immediately suggested she should come as a vampire. I don't like vampires. Today Thomas and mummy showed me the vampire suits they'd bought. They were so scary I cried. I thought that if I wore my ghost suit I might feel brave enough to look at them but they were still just too scary for boys!

Thomas and mummy bought me this costume for Halloween. I really like it though I realize it is very scary and people might be quite terrified of me if I wear it to Gordy's Halloween party next week. I am particularly scary when I jump out from behind the curtains when Thomas comes home from work and say Wooooooo! He cries in fear at the very sight of me, until I take down my hood and he slowly realizes it is just his Pudgeman. Should I chance wearing it? What a dilemma.

I had the best day on Saturday. Mummy and Thomas had been talking about a new house since my birthday but I was astounded to find out it was for me! Together with Granny, Pumpa, Brita and Peter, mummy and Thomas bought me my very own play house. I cried as they built it because it was so frustrating to see it and not be able to go in it but now it is finished I have been having great fun. I invited in Lots and Bits first but even Marcel, Granny and Pumpa have been inside it too. Maybe when Gordy, Emma and Amy come on Wednesday, they'll want a shot too.

Tonight Thomas and I were in the bath. He got out and started to dry himself with the big blue towel. He said Look Léon, I'm a ghost! and then he put the blue towel over his head and said Wooooooh! It was the scariest thing I ever saw. I cried and screamed and mummy had to hug me tightly because I am very scared of ghosts! Thomas and mummy were very surprised that I was frightened. Maybe adults aren't scared of ghosts.

I got this bubble machine from my friend Carol from mum's work for my birthday. Have you ever seen bubbles this big before? You can clap them and headbutt them. Only problem is it is so cool Marcel and Charlotte keep stealing it from me. Last Sunday Granny and Pumpa and Derek and Amanda and cousin Gordy suddenly came for lunch while we in Center Parcs.

After lunch the adults put clean plates on the table, and Phomas got a big cake with chocolate and cream and three candles from the kitchen.

So far, so good, but he then carried it towards me while the others started singing a song about me.

That was very unexpected – I had no idea it was my birthday already, and he really didn't have to bake a cake for me, so I felt very embarrassed (but happy) and I had to hide my face in Marcel's jumper.

Today Granny and Mummy took me to visit Jimmy and Jessie. I had a lovely time reading my books and playing with the new cars they bought for me. I told them all about wolves and vampires and got chocolate and sweeties.
Anna had great time until their cat Jada walked past. Anna didn't like Jada one bit and screamed until mum picked her up. I am not sure why she was so scared of the cat as she hadn't done anything bad but I suppose she does look very big to her. Or maybe Charlotte told her she doesn't like cats so Bits got scared.

Last week I got a new big carseat so I gave Anna my other one because she is 9kg now. I like my new big boy seat. Anna also prefers the new seat because it means she is facing the same way as me now so we can chat together and laugh while mummy is driving.

Today Charlotte and I helped Thomas and Brita chop up 114 nasty brown slugs that were eating their way through Brita's vegetable patch. They were very big and disgusting. By the end Charlotte really got the hang of chopping them in 2 with a big spade.
